Parking Brake Pedal: Service and Repair
SUB-ASSY OVERHAUL1. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER [55045/98-102]
2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PNL INSERT SUB-ASSY LWR LH [55406C/98-102]
3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH [67914/98-115]
4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY LH [62112A/98-115]
5. REMOVE SKID CONTROL BUZZER ASSY (w/ VSC) [86652A/98-170]
a. Disconnect the skid control buzzer connector.
b. Remove the skid control buzzer assembly
6. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSY [89540/98-170]
a. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the skid control ECU from the body.
b. Disconnect the skid control ECU connectors, and remove the skid control ECU.
7. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSY NO.1 [46410/98-78]
a. Release the parking brake pedal.
b. Remove the clip and disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 from the parking brake pedal assembly
8. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSY [46200/98-78]
a. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector and harness clamp.
b. Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake control pedal assembly
9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY [84550]
a. Remove the screw and parking brake switch assembly
10. REMOVE TENSION SPRING [46201B/98-78]
11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSY [46201/98-78]
a. Remove the nut, bolt and parking brake pedal from the bracket.
b. Remove the 2 bushes from the parking brake pedal.
12. REMOVE PARKING CABLE CLEVIS [46414/98-78]
a. Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring, pin and parking cable clevis.
13. REMOVE PARKING PEDAL PAD [46252/98-78]
14. INSTALL PARKING PEDAL PAD [46252/98-78]
15. INSTALL PARKING CABLE CLEVIS [46414/98-78]
a. Install the pin into the parking cable clevis and parking brake pedal.
b. Using snap ring pliers, install a new snap ring.
16. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSY [46201/98-78]
a. Apply the lithium soap base grycol grease on are new 2 bushes.
b. Install the 2 bushes to the parking brake pedal.
c. Install the parking brake pedal to the bracket with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 32 Nm (326 kgf-cm, 24 ft. lbs.)
17. INSTALL TENSION SPRING [46201B/98-78]
18. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY [84550]
a. Install the parking brake switch assembly with the screw.
19. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSY [46200/98-78]
a. Install the parking brake control pedal assembly with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft. lbs.)
b. Connect the parking brake switch connector and harness clamp.
20. CONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSY NO.1 [46410/98-78]
a. Connect the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 and clip to the parking brake pedal assembly
21. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ECU ASSY [89540/98-170]
a. Connect the skid control ECU connectors.
b. Install the skid control ECU with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
22. INSTALL SKID CONTROL BUZZER ASSY (w/ VSC) [86652A/98-170]
a. Install the skid control buzzer assembly
b. Connect the skid control buzzer connector.
23. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY LH [62112A/98-115]
24. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH [67914/98-115]
25. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PNL INSERT SUB-ASSY LWR LH [55406C/98-102]
26. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER [55045/98-102]
27. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
