ABS and TRAC Actuator

REPLACEMENT
1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE: Do not let brake fluid remain on a painted surface. Wash It off immediately.

2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
3. REMOVE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY WITH BRACKET





a. Slide the clip and disconnect the actuator No. 1 hose from the actuator.
b. Disconnect the master cylinder pressure sensor connector and harness clamp.





c. Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake lines from the actuator.

d. Use tags or make a memo to identify the place to reconnect.





e. Using SST, disconnect the 2 brake lines from the master cylinder, then remove the 2 brake lines.

f. Disconnect the actuator connector.





g. Remove the 3 nuts and brake actuator with bracket.
4. REMOVE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY [44540/98-85]
a. Remove the 2 nuts and ABS & TRACTION actuator from the bracket.
b. Remove the 2 holders and 3 cushions from the actuator.
5. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR BRACKET ASSY [44590/98-85]





a. Remove the tube clamp bolt from the bottom side of the actuator bracket.





b. Remove the 4 bolts and brake actuator bracket.
6. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR BRACKET ASSY [44590/98-85]





a. Install the brake actuator bracket with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)





b. Install the tube clamp to the bottom side of the brake actuator bracket with the bolt.
Torque: 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 inch lbs.)
7. INSTALL ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY [44540/98-85]
a. Install the 3 cushions and 2 holders to the ABS & TRACTION actuator.
b. Install the actuator to the bracket with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
8. INSTALL ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY WITH BRACKET





a. Install the brake actuator with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
b. Connect the brake actuator connector.





c. Using SST, connect the 2 brake lines to the master cylinder.

Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)





d. Using SST, connect the each brake line to the correct position of brake actuator, as shown in the illustration.

Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)
9. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
10. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID
11. BLEED MASTER CYLINDER

12. BLEED BRAKE LINE
13. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
14. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
15. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH TOYOTA HAND-HELD TESTER
