Introduction
This bulletin addresses noise concerns and door check performance on the front doors for 2000 model year Tundra vehicles. Some customers may complain of a "click" or "creak" noise while opening and closing the doors. The service tip in this bulletin will address the "click" noise. The new door checks listed below will address "creak" noise. The new door check assembly will also provide improved detent performance.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Service Tip

To reduce a "click" noise when opening and closing the doors:





1. Remove the screw shown in the illustration.

2. Apply a thread lock material to the screw (LOCTITE(R) Threadlocker Blue or equivalent).

3. Install the screw and tighten to 20 ft lbf.

Installation Procedure

To reduce a "creak" noise when opening and closing the doors and to improve detent performance:

1. Remove the door trim following the instructions in the 2000 MY Tundra Repair Manual, pages BO-10 and BO-11.





2. Remove the door check assembly.

3. Install the revised door check assembly using thread lock material (LOCTITE(R) Threadlocker Blue or equivalent) on all 3 fasteners.

4. Reinstall the door trim.
