DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY NOISE REDUCTION & IMPROVED SPRING TENSION (REVISED)

Some customers may complain of a "click" or "creak" sound while opening and closing the doors on 2000 model year Tundra vehicles.This bulletin addresses these noise concerns as well as the door check performance.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
2000 model year Tundra vehicles.





PART NUMBER INFORMATION:

SERVICE TIP:

To reduce a "click" noise when opening and closing the doors:





1. Remove the screw shown in the illustration.
2. Apply a thread lock material to the screw (LOCTITE Threadlocker Blue or equivalent).
3. Install the screw and tighten to 20 ft-lbf

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

To reduce a "creak" noise when opening and closing the doors.





1. Remove the door trim following the instructions in the 2000 MY Tundra Repair Manual, pages BO-10 and BO-11.
2. Remove the door check assembly.
3. Install the revised door check assembly using thread lock material (LOCTITE Threadlocker Blue or equivalent) on all 3 fasteners.
4. Reinstall the door trim.
