DOOR MIRROR GLASS REPLACEMENT ON 1997 MODELS
Outside rear view mirror glass replacement sub-assemblies are now available from parts supply, for the models listed.
NOTE:
The part numbers listed in this bulletin are for purposes of reference only. Always consult the Electronic Parts Catalogue or parts microfiche for applicable part numbers.
There are two replacement procedures (Type A and B) for replacing the mirror sub-assemblies. Please refer to the Replacement Procedure Matrix for the appropriate procedure to follow.
NOTE:
Part numbers in bold type face are for applicable mirror glass replacement.

PREPARATION:
TYPE 'A' REPLACEMENT:
CAUTION:
Wear leather gloves and safety glasses.
1. Remove ring sub-assembly
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ring and mirror body.
a) Using a screwdriver, dis-connect the ring from the mirror body.
b) Clear away fragments of mirror glass from the body
2. Install new mirror glass.
3. Install ring sub-assembly.
a) Connect the ring to the body.
b) Check for uniform clearance around the ring and body.
TYPE 'B' REPLACEMENT:
CAUTION:
Wear leather gloves and safety glasses.
1. Remove` mirror glass.
a) Using a scraper, take off the broken mirror glass.
b) Clear away fragments of mirror glass from the body.
c) Using adhesive tape, clean off the old double-sided tape from the mirror holder.
NOTE:
Do not use a solvent to remove the old double-sided tape.
2. Remove mirror holder.
a) Remove the screw.
b) Disconnect the claws of the mirror holder as shown, and remove the mirror holder.
NOTE: (with mirror heater) Use caution when removing the mirror holder since the wire harness is directly behind the mirror.
3. Install new mirror glass.
a) Remove the backing paper from the rear of the new mirror glass.
b) Install the narrow side of the mirror glass to the mirror holder.
c) Using a heat gun, heat the wide side of the mirror holder for approximately 1 minute.
d) Attached the mirror glass.
4. Install mirror holder.
5. Inspect mirror operation.
