Advanced Air Bag
Contact Coil Cable and Its Circuit Check
Troubleshooting
1. Driver air bag circuit check
Remove driver air bag (inflator) module referring to Removal and Installation Driver Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Advanced Air Bag.
With ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect SDM connector "L04".
Release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
Measure resistance between each air bag circuit terminal and other air bag circuit terminal in its connector.
Is each measured resistance infinity?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Check defective wire harness.
If wire is OK, replace contact coil.
2. Driver air bag circuit check
Release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
Measure resistance between each air bag circuit terminal and body ground in its connector.
Is each measured resistance infinity?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Check defective wire harness.
If wire is OK, replace contact coil.
3. Contact coil circuit (driver air bag circuit) check
Remove contact coil referring to Contact Coil Cable Assembly Removal and Installation Contact Coil Cable Assembly Removal and Installation.
Measure resistance between "A" and "B" terminal of driver air bag connectors (1st stage (1) and 2nd stage (2)).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
Is each measured resistance 1 ohms or less?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Replace contact coil.
4. Contact coil circuit (audio control switch circuit) check
Check for continuity between each terminal of audio control switch connector as shown in figure.
Is each measured resistance 1 ohms or less?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Replace contact coil.
5. Contact coil circuit (audio control switch circuit) check
Measure resistance between each air bag circuit terminal and each audio control switch circuit terminal.
Is each measured resistance infinity?
YES -
Contact coil and its circuit are good condition.
NO -
Replace contact coil.
