Contact Coil Cable and Its Circuit Check

Troubleshooting

1. Driver air bag circuit check

Remove driver air bag (inflator) module referring to Removal and Installation Driver Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Except Advanced Air Bag.
With ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect SDM connector "L04".
Release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010

Measure resistance between "L04-3" and "L04-4" terminals.






Is each measured resistance infinity?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Check defective wire harness.
If wire is OK, replace contact coil.

2. Contact coil circuit (driver air bag circuit) check

Remove contact coil referring to Contact Coil Cable Assembly Removal and Installation Contact Coil Cable Assembly Removal and Installation.
Measure resistance between "A" and "B" terminals of driver air bag connector (1).
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010





Is each measured resistance 1 ohms or less?
YES -
Go to Step 3 or 4.
NO -
Replace contact coil.

3. Contact coil circuit (steering switch circuit) check (non cruise control model)

Check for continuity between each terminal of steering switch terminals as shown in figure.






Is each measured resistance 1 ohms or less?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Replace contact coil.

4. Contact coil circuit (steering switch circuit) check (cruise control model)

Check for continuity between each terminal of steering switch terminals as shown in figure.






Is each measured resistance 1 ohms or less?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Replace contact coil

5. Contact coil circuit check

Measure resistance between each terminal and other terminal.

Is each measured resistance infinity?
YES -
Contact coil and its circuit are good condition.
NO -
Replace contact coil.
