Torque Sensor Inspection




Torque Sensor Inspection

Using SUZUKI Scan Tool

1) Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC located on underside of instrument panel at driver's seat side.
2) Push engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system to "ON".
3) Turn steering wheel fully clockwise and counterclockwise and check "Sensor (Main) Torque" and "Sensor (Sub) Torque" displayed on SUZUKI scan tool by selecting scan tool "Data list" mode. If check result is not as specified, perform Steps 4) to 7).

Sensor torque
Approx. -11 Nm (-1.1 kgf-m, -8.5 lbf-ft) to 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)

4) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
5) Separate steering lower shaft and steering gear case. Steering Column Removal and Installation
6) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
7) Turn pinion shaft (steering gear case) to check "Sensor (Main) Torque" and "Sensor (Sub) Torque" displayed on SUZUKI scan tool. If check result is not as specified, replace steering gear case.

Sensor torque
Approx. -11 Nm (-1.1 kgf-m, -8.5 lbf-ft) to 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)

Using Voltmeter

1) Remove following parts.
- Instrument panel undercover, center console box, side sill inner front scuff and dash side trim. Removal and Replacement
/ Center Console Box Removal and Installation
/ Service and Repair
2) Turn over floor carpet on passenger's side.
3) Remove P/S control module cover. Service and Repair
4) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
5) Measure voltage between terminals "2" - "8" and "7" - "8" of P/S control module "rotation angle sensor/torque sensor" connector (1). If check result is not as specified, replace steering gear case.

Torque sensor voltage
Between terminals "2" - "8": 2.5 ± 0.127 V
Between terminals "7" - "8": 2.5 ± 0.127 V
