DTC Check
NOTE:
In case that MIL turns on, the malfunction(s) is detected in either ECM or TCM and it stores the trouble information (DTC, freeze flame data, etc.) in its memory.
Check the trouble information based on the type of scan tool as follows.
- SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI-SDT):
It is necessary to check both ECM and TCM separately because the trouble information of both modules cannot be read and displayed at once.
- Generic scan tool:
It is not necessary to check both ECM and TCM separately because the trouble information of both modules can be read and displayed at once.
1) Prepare CAN communication OBD-II generic scan tool or SUZUKI scan tool.
Special Tool
(A): SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI-SDT)
2) With ignition mode of keyless push start system in "OFF", connect scan tool to DLC (1).
3) Push engine switch to change the ignition mode to "ON" and confirm that MIL lights up.
4) Read DTC and freeze frame data according to instructions displayed on scan tool and print them or write them down. Refer to scan tool operator's manual for details.
If communication between scan tool and ECM is not possible, go to Troubleshooting for Communication Bus Off Troubleshooting for Communication Bus Off.
5) After completing the check, push engine switch to change the ignition mode to "OFF" and disconnect scan tool from DLC.
