Oil Pump Assembly Disassembly and Reassembly

Oil Pump Assembly Removal and Installation

Disassembly

1) Remove oil pump sprocket referring to step 3) in "Removal" under Balancer Shaft Removal and Installation Balancer Shaft Removal and Installation.
2) Loosen oil pump cover bolts (2) and remove oil pump cover (1).





3) Remove outer rotor (1) and inner rotor (2).

NOTE:
Mark on oil pump housing the direction of which match mark (3) on outer rotor is facing. Outer rotor must be reinstalled in the original direction.





4) Remove relief valve (1) and spring (2) by removing retainer (3) from oil pump cover (4).






Reassembly

Oil Pump Inspection
1) Wash and then dry all disassembled parts.
2) Apply thin coat of engine oil to the following parts.
- Inner rotor
- Outer rotor
- Inside surfaces of oil pump housing and oil pump cover.
3) Install outer rotor (1) and inner rotor (2) to oil pump housing.

NOTE:
Align the direction of match mark (3) on outer rotor with the mark put on oil pump housing outer rotor.





4) Apply engine oil to relief valve (1) and spring (2), and install them to oil pump cover (4).
5) Tighten retainer (3) to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Retainer (a): 49 Nm (5.0 kgf-m, 36.5 lbf-ft)





6) Install oil pump cover (1) to oil pump housing.

Tightening torque
Oil pump cover bolt (a): 12 Nm (1.2 kgf-m, 9.0 lbf-ft)





7) Turn balancer shaft by hand to check for smooth rotation.





8) Install oil pump sprocket referring to step 3) in "Installation" under Balancer Shaft Removal and Installation Balancer Shaft Removal and Installation.
