Keyless Start System (Keyless Push Start System) Description
Keyless start system (keyless push start system) has four functions as described below.
- Door lock function:
Door can be locked or unlocked by pushing the door request switch incorporated in the outside handle of door while carrying remote controller.
- Trunk lid opener function:
Trunk lid can be opened by pushing the trunk lid request switch while carrying remote controller or pushing trunk lid open button of the remote controller.
- Keyless entry system function:
Door can be locked or unlocked by pushing the lock or unlock button of remote controller.
- Keyless engine start function:
Ignition mode can be switched and engine can be started/stopped by depressing brake pedal (CVT model) or clutch pedal (M/T model) and pushing engine switch while carrying the remote controller.
If the remote controller battery has run down or a system malfunction has occurred, doors can be locked or unlocked with the emergency key built into remote controller and the engine can be started by touching the remote controller to the engine switch.
If there is a malfunction in CAN communication line, ECM, or the keyless start control module, etc., ignition mode cannot be turned OFF due to fail-safe operation. Follow the following procedure to stop engine. Be sure that engine is not started until malfunction has been repaired.
1) Push and hold engine switch for approximately 3 seconds with brake pedal (CVT model) or clutch pedal (M/T model) released to stop engine. Ignition mode switches to "ACC" in this case.
2) Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery until malfunction has been repaired to prevent battery from going flat.
