Rain Sensor: Service Precautions
Precautions for Working on Rain-Sensing Wiper System
- Do not let dirt or fingerprint stuck in between windshield and rain / light sensor when replacing windshield or rain / light sensor.
- Check that the wiper switch is at OFF position before cleaning or repairing vehicle or rain / light sensor may activate the wiper if water or impact is applied to the sensor.
- Make sure to perform Programming and Relearning Rain / Light Sensor Initialization (If Equipped)
after replacing rain / light sensor, or auto wiper system will not work.
- Rain-sensing wiper may not operate normally in the following cases.
- Wiper blade is damaged and it cannot wipe some area.
- Water repellent is coated on windshield.
- Temperature of rain / light sensor is not between -10 °C (14 °F) and +80 °C (176 °F).
- Foreign matter such as mud, dirt, fingerprint or ice is attached on rain / light sensor.
- There is air bubble or dirt between rain / light sensor and windshield.
- The wiper will operate once whether it is raining or not to indicate that AUTO is selected if wiper switch is changed from OFF to AUTO when the engine is started or engine switch is pressed to turn the ignition mode to ON.
