SDM Removal and Installation
WARNING:
If the SDM is handled roughly when performing the service operations described below, there is a risk of personal injury due to accidental activation of the air bag system.
Be sure to read Precautions for Air Bag System Service Precautions for Air Bag System Service
before starting the operations described below and follow all of the instructions provided.
Removal
1) Disable air bag system. Disabling Air Bag System
2) Remove floor console rear. Center Console Box Removal and Installation
3) Turn over floor carpet. Service and Repair
4) Disconnect SDM connector.
5) Remove SDM bolt (2).
6) Remove SDM (1).
Installation
NOTE:
When connecting connectors with a locking mechanism, be sure to lock them firmly. Improper locking may cause the connection detection pin to turn on the "AIR BAG" warning light.
Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.
- Check that none of the following faulty conditions exists.
- Bend, scratch, deformity on mating surface of vehicle body where SDM is mounted.
- Foreign matter or rust on mating surface of vehicle body where SDM is mounted.
- Ensure that arrow (3) on SDM is pointing toward front of vehicle.
- Tighten SDM bolt (2) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
SDM bolt (a): 9 Nm (0.9 kgf-m, 6.5 lbf-ft)
