Power Seat Control Module: Testing and Inspection
Power Seat Control Module / Seat Heater Control Module Self-Diagnosis Function
Power Seat Diagnosis Description (If Equipped)
Power seat control module monitors all input and output signals from/to the power seat control system devices. If control module detects any faults in these signals, it records the contents of these faults in memory as error codes. Recorded error codes can be retrieved in the form of buzzer beeps if control module is set to the diagnosis mode. Diagnosis mode also allows monitoring incoming signals to the control module.
Diagnosis mode setting procedure
Diagnosis mode is set if the following steps are completed within 10 seconds after pushing the engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system to "ON" with the vehicle stopped.
1) Press memory set switch 4 times, and then hold the switch pressed until diagnosis mode is established in Step 4).
2) Give a short, rearward push on reclining switch and then give a short, forward push on slide/lifter/tilt switch.
3) Perform Step 2) again.
4) Buzzer in power seat control module will beep to notify that diagnosis mode has been established. Release memory set switch.
After removing causes of faults, error codes can be cleared by canceling the diagnosis mode. To cancel the diagnosis mode, push engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system from "ON" to "OFF".
NOTE:
- Be careful not to cancel diagnosis mode inadvertently, or all stored error codes are cleared.
- If error codes are cleared while associated fault conditions still remain, the same error codes will be recorded again.
- Error codes for sensor pulse errors are recorded when corresponding electric motors are continuously locked.
- In situation where some error code is recorded while input signals from switches are being monitored, the error code will be indicated in priority to the input signal indication.
Monitoring/diagnosis items and beep patterns
Items that can be monitored/diagnosed in the diagnosis mode are shown in the following tables. Buzzer beep patterns representing individual input signal/error codes are also shown here.
Input Signal Codes
Error Codes
Buzzer Beep Patterns
Input signal/error codes are indicated by the number of times the buzzer beeps. The following example shows beep patterns for input signal code "41" and error code "62".
Seat Heater Diagnosis Description (If Equipped)
Seat heater control module monitors all input and output signals from/to the seat heater control system devices. If control module detects any faults in these signals, it records contents of the faults in memory as error codes. Recorded error codes can be retrieved in the form of flashes of seat heater indicator if control module is set to diagnosis mode.
Diagnosis mode setting and code clearing procedure
Perform the following steps with the vehicle stopped.
1) Push engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system from "OFF" to "ON" while holding seat heater switch of diagnosed seat pressed.
2) Release seat heater switch, and then give two short pushes on the same switch within 5 seconds. Both MID and LOW indicators in heater switch light up, and HI indicator lights up briefly before it goes out.
3) Wait 2 or more seconds, and then give two short pushes on the seat heater switch within 5 seconds again. Both MID and LOW indicators go out.
4) 1 second later, HI, MID and LOW seat heater indicators will each flash 3 times in this order, indicating that diagnosis mode has been established.
5) If error codes are present, seat heater indicator(s) will start indicating these codes 2 seconds later by flashing in specific patterns. Each code is repeatedly indicated at 2-second intervals as long as diagnosis mode lasts. If 2 or more codes are recorded, they are all indicated one after another in the predetermined priority order (an item has priority over any item listed below in the following diagnosis item table) at 2-second intervals.
6) Note all recorded errors and then remove their causes. Diagnosis mode is canceled when battery negative (-) cable is disconnected before performing repair.
7) Clear error codes by pressing seat heater switch for more than 5 seconds after setting diagnosis mode again.
To cancel diagnosis mode, push engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system to "OFF".
Fault items
The following table shows fault items that can be identified through diagnosis and also their codes represented by flashing of seat heater indicator(s).
