Fuel Pump Assembly Removal and Installation

Fuel Pump On-Vehicle Inspection

Removal

1) Remove fuel tank from vehicle. Fuel Tank Removal and Installation
2) Disconnect fuel pump/fuel level sensor connector (2) from fuel pump assembly (1).
3) Disconnect fuel feed pipe (3) from fuel pump assembly. Fuel Hose Disconnecting and Reconnecting
4) Remove fuel pump nuts (4) and ground terminal (5).





5) For 4WD model, lift fuel pump and disconnect fuel suction pipe (1) from fuel pump assembly. Fuel Hose Disconnecting and Reconnecting





6) Remove fuel pump assembly from fuel tank.

Installation

Fuel Pump Inspection

WARNING:

Failure to take proper precautions when reinstalling the fuel tank connections can result in fuel leakage or damage.

Clean the outside surface of the pipe where each quick joint is to be installed, push the pipe into the joint until the joint lock clicks, and then confirm that the pipe is connected securely.

Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.

- Check that mating surface of fuel pump is clean.
- Use new fuel pump gasket (1).





- Align protrusions (1) on fuel pump with aligning hole (2) on fuel pump plate.
- Align straight portion (3) on fuel pump plate with specified position on fuel tank.





- Tighten fuel pump nuts to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Fuel pump nut 10 Nm (1.0 kgf-m, 7.5 lbf-ft)
