Rear Wheel Hub and Suspension Knuckle Removal and Installation (2WD Model)

Rear Wheel Hub and Suspension Knuckle Components:Rear

Removal

1) Hoist vehicle and remove rear wheel.
2) Remove rear brake disc. Rear Brake Disc Removal and Installation
3) Disconnect rear wheel speed sensor from suspension knuckle. Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Removal and Installation
4) Remove rear wheel hub assembly bolts (1), and then remove rear wheel hub assembly with rear brake disc dust cover from suspension knuckle.





5) Disconnect following parts from suspension knuckle and then remove suspension knuckle:

- Remove rear shock absorber. Shock Absorber and Coil Spring Removal and Installation

- Remove upper arm. Upper Arm Removal and Installation

- Remove lower arm. Lower Arm Removal and Installation

- Remove control rod.
Control Rod Removal and Installation

- Remove trailing arm. Trailing Arm Removal and Installation

- Remove rear stabilizer joint bracket. Rear Stabilizer Bar/Rear Stabilizer Joint Removal and Installation
6) Remove axle plate cover from suspension knuckle.
7) Remove hub bolts (1) with hydraulic press.






Installation

Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points:

- Insert new hub bolts (1) in hub holes. Rotate hub bolts slowly to assure that serrations are aligned with those made by original bolts.

NOTE:
Removing the hub bolts will break the rotation preventing projections on the hub bolts.

Avoid removing the hub bolts unless their replacement is absolutely necessary. If the hub bolts are removed, never reuse the bolts. Replace them with new bolts.





- When installing axle plate cover (1), press-fit evenly until suspension knuckle contacts flange (2).

NOTE:
Mind the direction of rear brake disc dust cover when installing rear brake disc dust cover together with rear wheel hub assembly to suspension knuckle.

- Tighten rear wheel hub assembly bolts (3) to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Rear wheel hub assembly bolt (a): 75 Nm (7.6 kgf-m, 55.5 lbf-ft)
