CONDITION:
The Outer Reclining Cover trim may break away from the seat frame at the forward anchor point on the right front passenger seat.
CAUSE:
The plastic trim cover is not designed for any type of weight support such as someone resting on the outer edge of the seat cushion while entering/exiting the vehicle.
CORRECTION:
The seat frame has been modified and the trim cover redesigned to prevent stress concentration. Please refer to the countermeasure VIN breaks listed above and the seat adjuster type to determine the necessary repair action. If the vehicle you are working on was built prior to the VIN break and there is no prior replacement of the seat cushion (frame) then both the seat cushion assy must be modified (manual adjuster) or replaced (power seat) and the broken plastic trim cover must be replaced. If the vehicle is after the VIN break only the plastic trim outer reclining cover should be replaced. In the unlikely event that you encounter a vehicle that has failed after the VIN break or had a new seat cushion/frame modified or replaced, and find that the seat cushion (frame) is the same as that pictured as "Before" countermeasure, contact the Suzuki Technical Hotline for instructions.
