Propeller Shaft Removal and InstallationRemoval
1. Hoist vehicle.
2. Before removing propeller shaft, give match marks (2) on joint flange and propeller shaft as shown.
3. Separate No.2 propeller shaft (3) from rear differential flange.
4. Remove No.1 propeller shaft (1) from transfer output flange.
5. Remove propeller shaft center support brackets (4) from vehicle body.
CAUTION:
^ Bracket and No.1 & No.2 shaft are removed in one without separation.
^ Use care not to drop it.
Installation
1. Reverse removal procedure to install propeller shaft, noting following point.
^ When installing propeller shaft, align the match marks (2). Otherwise, vibration may occur during driving.
^ Use following specification to torque each bolt and nut.
Tightening torque
Propeller shaft No.1 bolts (a): 23 Nm (2.3 kgf-cm, 17.0 ft. lbs.)
Propeller shaft No.2 bolts (b): 23 Nm (2.3 kgf-cm, 17.0 ft. lbs.)
Center coupling bolts (c): 23 Nm (2.3 kgf-cm, 17.0 ft. lbs.)
Center support nuts (d): 50 Nm (5.0 kgf-cm, 36.5 ft. lbs.)
