Oil Pick Up/Strainer: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Drain engine oil by removing drain plug.
3. Remove engine under covers.
4. Remove exhaust No.1 pipe.
5. Remove transmission stiffener.
6. Support engine and transmission.
7. Remove mounting member.
8. Before removing oil pan, remove CKP sensor from oil pan. Remove oil pan and then oil pump strainer.
CLEANING
- Clean mating surface of oil pan and cylinder block.
Remove oil, old sealant, and dusts from mating surfaces and oil pan inside.
- Clean oil pump strainer screen.
- Clean CKP sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply sealant to oil pan mating surface continuously as shown in figure.
"A" Sealant: 99000-31150
2. Install oil pump strainer and oil pan.
Install O-ring into cylinder block securely as shown in figure.
With oil pump strainer inserted into oil pan, install strainer to cylinder block.
Tighten strainer bolt first and then bracket bolt to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (a): 11 Nm (8.0 ft. lbs.)
After fitting oil pan to cylinder block, run in securing bolts and start tightening at the center: move wrench outward, tightening one bolt at a time.
Tighten bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (a): 11 Nm (8.0 ft. lbs.)
NOTE: After installing oil pan, install CKP sensor to oil pan. Check to make sure that CKP sensor and pulley teeth are free from any metal particles and damage.
3. Install gasket and drain plug to oil pan.
Tighten drain plug to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (a): 35 Nm (25.5 ft. lbs.)
4. Install mounting member.
Tighten bolts and nut to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(a): 55 Nm (40.0 ft. lbs.)
(b): 45 Nm (32.5 ft. lbs.)
5. Remove lifting device.
6. Install transmission stiffener.
Tightening Torque (a): 50 Nm (36.5 ft. lbs.)
7. Install exhaust No.1 pipe.
Tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.
(a): 50 Nm (36.5 ft. lbs.)
NOTE:
^ Tighten bolts and nuts marked (a) first.
^ Use new gasket for exhaust No.1 pipe.
8. Install engine under covers.
9. Refill engine with engine oil.
