Restraints - Rear Seat Center Seat Belt Installation

Rear Center Seat Belt Installation Procedures

INTRODUCTION

Variations in rear seat designs and different seat belt lengths allow for variations in installation. This bulletin is to clarify the differences in seat cushion designs and available seat belts to provide the correct installation procedure for each as improper installation could compromise the operation of the seat belts.

REPAIR PROCEDURE/INFORMATION

1. Content:

There are two types of rear center seat belts and two styles of rear cushions. Depending on their combinations, installation method is different. If you remove/replace a belt or seat cushion, please check them and use the appropriate repair procedure.





2. Parts difference:

Depending on the seat cushion, there may or may not be a slot in the seat cushion back for the seat belts to pass through.








NOTE:
Verify seat belt length and seat cushion style to determine the correct installation procedure.

4. Installation procedure:

Procedure A:





When you replace the rear seat cushion, draw the center seat belt between the seat cushion and backrest. See the illustration shown and photo.

Procedure B:





Pass the center belt through this slot in the cushion back first. Then, go to the above "Procedure A".

Procedure C:





When you replace the rear seat cushion, pull the center seat belt with left seat belt through the gap in the seat cushion.
