If you receive a customer complaint on a 2005MY Legacy / Outback wagon where the moon roof sunshade does not open and close during operation of the moon roof, check the "block and rod" assembly on the moon roof track.

The 2005MY Legacy / Outback wagon sunshades are designed to open while the moon roof is in the vent position. This is an automatic function. If the customer attempts to force the sunshade closed, while the moon roof is in the vent position, the rods will, by design, become dislodged from the moon roof frame. Inspect both the RH and LH rods and blocks for damage. If the rods are only disengaged, simply snap the rods back onto the metal tabs on the frame assembly. In the event the rods are bent and/or the blocks are broken, you should order individual parts through the Subaru parts ordering system.
