51 - Side Airbag Sensor (RH) Is Faulty

DIAGNOSIS:
- Side airbag sensor (RH) is faulty.
- Side airbag harness (RH) is faulty.

CAUTION: Before performing diagnostics on airbag system, turn ignition switch "OFF", disconnect battery ground cable and then wait at least 20 seconds.

5Q1: SIDE AIRBAG HARNESS (RH) INSPECTION
1. Disconnect connector (AB26) from ELR with pretensioner on RH side.
2. Disconnect connector (AB24) and (AB25) at below front seat on RH side. (Side airbag equipped vehicle)
3. Disconnect connector (AB18) from airbag control module and connect it to test harness I or I2 connector (1I).
4. Disconnect connector (AB28) from side airbag sensor (RH) and connect it to test harness G connector (1G).




5. Measure resistance between test harness I or I2 connector (3I) terminal and test harness G connector (3G) terminal.

CHECK: Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?

YES: Go to step 5Q2.

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).

5Q2: SIDE AIRBAG HARNESS (RH) INSPECTION




Measure resistance between test harness I or I2 connector (3I) terminal and test harness G connector (3G) terminal.

CHECK: Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?

YES: Go to step 5Q3.

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).

5Q3: SIDE AIRBAG HARNESS (RH) INSPECTION




Measure resistance between test harness I or I2 connector (3I) terminal and test harness G connector (3G) terminal.

CHECK: Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?

YES: Go to step 504.

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).

5Q4: SIDE AIRBAG HARNESS (RH) INSPECTION




Measure resistance between test harness I or I2 connector (3I) terminal and test harness G connector (3G) terminal.

CHECK: Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?

YES: Go to step 5Q5.

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).

5Q5: SIDE AIRBAG HARNESS (RH) INSPECTION




Measure resistance between connector (3I) terminal and chassis ground.

CHECK: Is the resistance more than 1 M ohms?

YES: Go to step 5Q6.

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).

5Q6: SIDE AIRBAG HARNESS (RH) INSPECTION




Measure resistance between connector (3I) terminal and chassis ground.

CHECK: Is the resistance more than 1 M ohms?

YES: Go to step 5Q7.

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).

Measure resistance between connector (3I) terminal and chassis ground.

CHECK: Is the resistance more than 1 M ohms

YES: Go to step 5Q8.

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).

Measure resistance between connector (3I) terminal and chassis ground.

CHECK: Is the resistance more than 1 M ohms?

YES: Replace side airbag sensor (RH).

NO: Replace side airbag harness (RH).
