Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Description and Operation

Canister:

PURPOSE
The canister contains activated carbon as the medium which stores fuel vapors. When the engine is running and the ECU signals the purge control solenoid valve to open, fuel vapors are drawn from the canister and into the engine at the throttle body.

LOCATION
The canister is located in the right front corner of the engine compartment, in front of the air cleaner.
