Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation

Canister Purge Control Solenoid:

Evaporative Emission Control System:

PURPOSE
Opens the purge line on the canister to ported vacuum.

LOCATION
Under the R.H. intake runners.

OPERATION
Fuel vapors are purged from the canister by the purge solenoid when the following conditions are met:

[1] Coolant temperature is above 40° C (104° F).
[2] Engine runs for more than 105 seconds after starting.
[3] Vehicle speed is above 2 km/h (1.3 mph).
