Engine Control System

DTC 33 Vehicle Speed Sensor Diagnostic Chart:




Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit:





DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND DIAGRAM

1. CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR ECU.
1) Lift up the vehicle.
2) Start the engine, and drive the wheels.
At this time, if speedometer does not operate, go to CHECK 2.
3) Measure voltage between ECU connector terminal and body.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B59) No. 3 - Body/O changing to 5 V

2. CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND LINE OF ECU.
1) Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
2) Disconnect ECU connector.
3) Turn ignition switch to "ON".
4) Measure voltage between ECU connector terminal and body to check power supply line.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B59) No. 2 - Body/10 V,min.
(B59) No. 13 - Body/10 V,min.

5) Measure resistance between ECU connector terminal and body to check ground line.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B59) No. 11 - Body/O ohms
(B59) No. 22 - Body/O ohms

VSS And ECM Connectors:





3. CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN ECU AND VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR 2.
1) Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
2) Disconnect (B9) connector from vehicle speed sensor 2.
3) Measure resistance of harness connector between ECU and vehicle speed sensor 2.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B60) No. 11 - (B9) No. 1/O0 ohm

4. CHECK VOLTAGE OF POWER SUPPLY FOR VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR 2.
1) Disconnect connector from vehicle speed sensor 2.
2) Turn ignition switch to "ON".
3) Measure voltage between (B9) connector terminal and body.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B9) No. 1 - Body/10 V, min.

5. CHECK VOLTAGE OF POWER SUPPLY FOR MAIN RELAY.
Measure voltage between main relay connector terminal and body.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B50) No. 3 - Body/10 V, min.

Vehicle Speed Sensor:





6. CHECK VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR 2.
1) Remote vehicle speed sensor 2.
2) Connect (B9) connector to vehicle speed sensor 2.
3) While rotating shaft of vehicle speed sensor 2, check voltage that changing from 0 to 5 volts four times per rotation between (B9) connector terminals.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B9) No. 1 - No. 3/O changes to 5 V (4 times/rotation)
