Ensure select lever is relative to the shift cams and inhibitor switch positions. Also ensure vehicle starts and back-up lamp illuminates when select lever is properly positioned. Check for continuity at inhibitor switch electrical connector terminals by following the continuity inspection chart Fig. 21.
1. Position select lever to N range, then loosen inhibitor switch retaining bolts.
2. While holding pressure against select lever toward P range, match the locator to bracket hole and the moving plate pin to arm hole, then tighten inhibitor switch retaining bolts.
3. Check for proper operation.
