Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The fuel pump relay is used by the ECU to provide power to the fuel pump.

LOCATION
The relay is mounted under the left side dashboard, near the ECU.

OPERATION
The fuel pump relay operates for a few seconds when the ignition is turned ON. The relay only remains engaged if the ECU detects the engine running, or the starter operating. Power is supplied to the relay when the key is ON, the ECU controlling relay ground.
