Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Vacuum Diagram (MPFI):
PURPOSE
The purge control solenoid controls vacuum allowed to the purge control valve.
LOCATION
On R.H. fender apron, in front of strut.
CONSTRUCTION
The solenoid is a typical vacuum control solenoid.
OPERATION
The canister purge control solenoid valve opens to allow fuel vapor purging from the charcoal canister when it receives a signal from the ECU under these specified driving conditions:
^ Coolant temperature is above 40° C (104° F).
^ Driving continues for more than 105 seconds after engine start.
^ Vehicle speed is above 2 km/h (1.3 mph).
