Electromagnetic Powder Clutch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove starter.
2. Disconnect brush holder harness and wiring harness connectors. Remove bolts and lift off brush holder.

NOTE: Be careful not to break brush when removing holder from case.

INSTALLATION

Reverse the removal procedure and tighten mounting bolts to 3.3 - 4.0 ft lb (4.4 - 5.4 Nm).


NOTE: Be careful not to bend or scratch the seal plate affixed to the brush holder.

Ensure that the brush is fitted into the brush holder guide groove of the housing when the holder is installed on the clutch housing.

Do not forcefully install or tighten the brush holder as this may break the brush.
