Fuel Pressure Pulsation Damper: Description and Operation

Fuel Dampener:

PURPOSE
Reduces noise from fuel pressure pulsation.

LOCATION
On the fuel rail, on the R.H. side (does not have vacuum fitting).

OPERATION
While the injector opens and closes rapidly, pulsations are created in the fuel lines. Inside the dampener is a chamber with a diaphragm. The diaphragm is attatched to a spring. When the fuel pressure pulsates, the diaphragm absorbs the pulsations, reducing noise.
