Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions


Diagnose and troubleshoot the Electronically Controlled Gasoline Injection (EGI) system according to procedure charts. If the ECS lamp flashes at the end of the procedure, it that the EGI system is operating normally. If a failure is detected, perform checks according to procedure charts. After completing procedure or repair, ensure to recheck EGI system.
Trouble Codes for the Electronically Controlled Gasoline Injection (EGI) system are as follows:
11 Crank angle sensor (No reference pulse).
12 Starter switch in OFF position.
13 Crank angle sensor (No position pulse).
14 Fuel injectors #1 and #2 (Abnormal injector output).
15 Fuel injectors #3 and #4 (Abnormal injector output).
21 Water temperature sensor (Open or shorted circuit).
22 Knock sensor (Open or shorted circuit).
23 Air flow meter (Open or shorted circuit).
31 Throttle sensor (Open or shorted circuit).
32 Abnormal oxygen sensor signal.
33 Vehicle speed sensor (No signal present during operation).
34 EGR solenoid stuck in ON or OFF position.
35 Purge control solenoid stuck in ON or OFF position.
41 System too lean.
42 Idle switch (Abnormal signal in relation to throttle sensor output).
51 Neutral switch (Continuously ON).
