Ball Joint: Service and Repair

Fig. 6 Ball joint removal:

1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from ball stud, Fig. 6, and disconnect ball stud from transverse link.
3. Remove ball joint to housing retaining bolt.
4. Remove ball joint from housing.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Torque castle nut to 29 ft.lbs. and ball joint to housing retaining bolts to 35 ft.lbs.
