Refrigerant Chart, A/C System Oil Recommendation & Identification Information

1. REFRIGERANT CHART

The following chart lists the recommended quantities of refrigerant charge for 1987 Subaru A/C systems.

1987

WYNN'S CLIMATE SYSTEMS 32 oz.
HITACHI KITS 26-28 oz.
HITACHI L.I. 26-28 oz.
MATSUSHITA L.I. 30 oz.
MATSUSHITA KITS 30 oz.

2. AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM OIL RECOMMENDATIONS

Please be advised that Matsushita A/C systems use a different type of oil than the Hitachi and Wynns Climate systems and must not be mixed or interchanged when servicing these systems.

MATSUSHITA A/C SYSTEM: Uses 150 cc of ATMOS S150
HITACHI A/C SYSTEM : Uses 150 cc of SUNISO 5GS
WYNN'S CLIMATE A/C : Uses 150 cc of SUNISO 5GS

Use of non-recommended oils will cause a decrease in cooling performance as well as a possible adverse effect on durability.

The use of non-recommended oil in the Matsushita A/C system may also cause vane noise.

These oils can be purchased through the Domestic Purchasing section of the Parts Department under the following part numbers:

SUNISO 5GS S0A203934 - Quart container
ATMOS S150 S0A438A339 - Quantity 200 cc
3. A/C SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION

Evaporator stickers are located on the bottom of the evaporator and are visible inside the vehicle. Removal of the passenger side trim panel is required on some models to facilitate viewing. All evaporator stickers have the name of the manufacturer of the A/C unit printed on them.

All vehicles also have an underhood tag or sticker, giving such information as refrigerant charge and oil type, replacement drive belt part number, etc. Line installed vehicles have an adhesive sticker placed on the underside of the hood. Aftermarket A/C equipped vehicles have a metal identification tag which should be either on the right (passenger) side shock tower area, or hood latch area.
