Brake System - Bleeding Precautions

SUBJECT: FAST FILL BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING PRECAUTIONS
THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS BEING ISSUED AS SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION TO SERVICE BULLETIN #06-20-85
The following precautions and procedure must be observed when bleeding the brake system on all of 1985 4-Door, Station Wagon and XT Coupe vehicles:
PRECAUTIONS
A) Closely check all components of the brake system for any possible brake fluid leaks that may cause failure or saturate the brake pads and/or shoes.
B) Only use DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid.
C) Extra care must be taken when bleeding to ensure that all air is properly purged.

D) Wheel cylinders fed by the secondary chamber of the master cylinder must be bled first. (See Figure 1).
PROCEDURE
NOTE: ON THE FAST-FILL TYPE BRAKE SYSTEM IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BLEED THE MASTER CYLINDER WHEN BLEEDING THE WHEEL CYLINDERS.
