Accessory Center Arm Rest - Instructions

SUBJECT: ACCESSORY CENTER ARM REST

An accessory center arm rest assembly, complete with mounting hardware is available through normal parts channels under the following part numbers:


J2018GA001 Gray
J2018GA002 Blue
J2018GA003 Beige


Please be aware that a few arm rest assemblies contain installation instructions printed in Japanese. Should you receive such an assembly, the installation procedure is printed below.

NOTE: Read complete instructions before installing.


1) Begin by removing the coin tray covering the parking brake system by pulling upward. Retain coin tray.

2) Next, remove the 5 screws (labeled A, B, and C) indicated in Figure 1. Retain Screws A and B. OEM parking brake cover can now be removed.

3) Now remove the 2 screws (labeled D, Figure 2) which secure the
OEM "U" shaped bracket. Discard bracket and retain mounting
screws (D).

4) Install bracket supplied with arm rest using screws removed earlier. Place 1-B screw and 2-D screws in indicated locations. (See Figure 3).

5) Pull parking brake lever upward. Slip arm rest assembly over and down onto new bracket as shown. (See Figure 4).
NOTE: FOR 4WD VEHICLES, REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB FIRST BEFORE INSTALLING ARM REST ASSEMBLY.

6) Secure the arm rest using the 2-A screws, removed previously, for the front of the assembly. Install the three screws supplied with the kit in the location shown inside the console. (See Figure 5). Tighten all 5 screws after assuring that there is no interference between the arm rest assembly and the parking brake lever. Adjust arm rest by loosening screws and shifting slightly if necessary. Retighten all screws.

7) The ashtray assembly must be transferred from the OEM parking brake cover to the arm rest assembly. (See Figure 6). Remove ashtray from outer housing. Now remove the screw securing the ashtray outer housing and remove the ashtray outer housing. Install the ashtray outer housing into the arm rest assembly using the screw removed and the remaining screw supplied with arm rest assembly. Place ashtray into ashtray outer housing.
8) Replace coin tray.
