Battery - Procedure for Charging the Battery or Jump Starting

Date: August 8, 2012

Order No.: SM-B-54.10/05

Group: 54

SUBJECT:
MY-All, Model 451.391 /491

Procedure for Charging the Battery or Jump Starting

Some 12 V chargers and jump-start devices (e.g. power boosts) generate voltages above 15.9 V. This can damage the DC/DC converter, on-board charger, or electric motor (EDCM).

Therefore, it is essential to disconnect the ground line of the 12 V battery before charging the 12 V battery. When jump starting (Power Boost) or on-board electrical system charging, ensure that a maximum voltage of
15.5 V is never exceeded.

If it is evident that hardware damage is a consequence of overvoltage, warranty and goodwill claims may be rejected.
