SUBJECT:
MY-All, Model 451.391/491 Using Charging Cables on Electric Vehicles

WARNING!
Risk of death and personal injury may occur when touching components on vehicles with high-voltage on-board electrical system if not done properly. Do not touch components and open lines of the high-voltage on-board electrical system.

Persons who are carriers of electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers) should not carry out any work on high-voltage on-board electrical systems due to increased risk of death or personal injury.

Observe the following safety precautions when using charging cables on electric vehicles:

Procedure

1. Use only the charging cables that are supplied with the vehicle and have been approved by the manufacturer.

2. Only use the charging cables to charge the vehicle.

3. Do not extend the length of the charging cables or use cable drums or multiplugs.

4. The use of adapter cables or other adapters is not permitted.

5. Do not use damaged charging cables.

6. Never make any kind of design modifications to the charging cables or to the plugs.

If any of these points are ignored, the high voltage poses an acute risk of injury via electric shock which can be fatal or severe. Not adhering to these cautions can also risk fire for the vehicle and peripherals.

Only approved charging cables should be used for update procedures on on-board chargers. Similarly, the cables supplied to workshops as special tools are only intended for update procedures as part of repair operations and must not be used to charge the vehicle.

The use of charging cables not certified by Mercedes-Benz or smart, and the modification or reproduction of such cables will invalidate any entitlement to submit warranty and liability claims.
