In Germany the following fuels are available (we recommend using only fuels conforming to the applicable standards):

Unleaded gasoline:
S unleaded = Premium fuel conforming to DIN EN 228
N unleaded = Regular fuel conforming to DIN EN 228
SP unleaded = Super Plus conforming to DIN EN 228

Super Premium conforming to DIN EN 228 is also known as Euro Super.

The availability of individual fuel qualities as well as the standardization of fuels is regulated differently in the individual countries.

In the table which follows, "S" is also stated as a recommended gasoline for older vehicles. This refers to leaded premium fuel which is no longer available in Germany, but possibly still in other countries.
In the case of such vehicles, the fuels which are listed in the column "may also be used", offer an alternative in Germany and in other countries in which no leaded premium fuel is available.

The summary which follows lists the recommended fuels, including those which may also be used, for our vehicles fitted with gasoline engines.

All vehicles fitted with catalytic converters should be operated only with unleaded fuel.

In the case of vehicles which are not yet equipped for operating solely with unleaded fuel (harder valve seat rings), the valve clearance should be inspected at shorter intervals when operating the vehicle exclusively with unleaded fuels.

Vehicles not listed should be operated with the fuel stated in the Owner's Manual.

The decisive date is the date of conversion to harder valve seat rings. Should the delivery date of your vehicle be within the range of the conversion period, please contact your Mercedes-Benz workshop.
