Location
The outside air shutoff valve is located on the activated charcoal canister on the vehicle underside.

Task
The outside air shutoff valve locks the ventilation and deventilation of the activated charcoal canister for testing leaks in the fuel system (leak test).

Design
The outside air shutoff valve consists of a solenoid that closes the outside air shutoff valve when energized. A mechanical safety valve is also installed.

Function
The outside air shutoff valve is activated by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) at the ground end to perform the leak test.
In case of any faults (outside air shutoff valve does not open any more), a mechanical safety valve takes over the ventilation of the activated charcoal canister.
