CAN Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN)
LIN B Local interconnect network, interior 1 (LIN B)

Functions
^ Low beam
^ High beam and headlamp flasher
^ Daytime running lights (with code (K06) Daytime running lights)
^ Auto on/off driving lights (with code (V54) Rain/light sensor)

Dipped beam
Function requirement
^ Circuit 15 On

Function
The low beam is switched on by rotating the combination switch to switch position 2. The SAM control unit reads in the switch position of the combination switch and actuates the left and right low beam.
The status message "low beams on" is transmitted by the SAM control unit via the CAN to the instrument cluster, which then actuates the low beams indicator lamp.

High beam and headlamp flasher
Function requirements
^ Circuit 15 On
^ Low beams on (only for high beam function)

Function
The high beam is switched on by pushing the combination switch forward. The SAM control unit reads in the switch position of the combination switch and actuates the left and right high beam. The status message "high beams on" is relayed by the SAM control unit via the CAN to the instrument cluster, which then actuates the high beam indicator lamp.
The headlamp flasher is switched on by pulling back and holding the combination switch. The function sequence and signal path for the headlamp flasher function correspond to that of the high beam function. The high beam actuation remains active for as long as the combination switch is held in the headlamp flasher switch position.

Daytime running lights (with code (K06) Daytime running lights)
Function requirements
^ Circuit 61 ON
^ Activate daytime running lights function

Activate/deactivate function
The daytime running lights function is activated and deactivated by pulling back the combination switch and simultaneously operating the locking button on the transmitter key. This causes both requests to be read in and evaluated by the SAM control unit. Each status change is stored in the SAM control unit and relayed via the CAN to the instrument cluster, which emits an acoustic confirmation.

Function
If the daytime running lights have been activated, the standing light and the low beam are automatically switched on by the SAM control unit with circuit 61 on.

High beam actuation is disabled when the daytime running lights are on.

Automatic driving lights on (with code (V54) Rain/light sensor)
Function requirements
^ Circuit 15 On
^ Combination switch in "Auto" position

Function
The rain/light sensor is read in by the SAM control unit via the LIN B.
When darkness is detected, the SAM control unit activates the low beams and relays the information via the CAN to the instrument cluster, which activates the low beam indicator lamp.
