1 Carefully separate out the two front webs (arrow) on the grill of the front roof frame lining (9) on the driver-side using side cutting pliers.

2 Guide external microphone wiring harness (7.1) through opening made at front roof frame lining (9).

3 Position external microphone (7) above opening made at front roof frame lining (9) and route external microphone wiring harness (7.1) on front roof frame lining (9) and fix in position with fabric adhesive tape (10).







4 Screw down metal brackets contained in the scope of supply in the hatched area (10) on the front roof frame lining (9).

5 Bond external microphone (7) onto metal bracket.
The contact surfaces on the external microphone (7) and on the metal bracket must be free of dust and grease, otherwise paint adhesion problems may occur.







6 Put down the front roof frame mounting (9) in the vehicle.

7 Route external microphone wiring harness (7.1) as shown along A-pillar and fix in place using fabric adhesive tape (11).
Route external microphone wiring harness (7.1) so that installation of right A-pillar trim is not obstructed.

8 Route external microphone wiring harness (7.1) along A-pillar under instrument panel up to installation location of smart Premium radio (A2/4) and fix in place using cable ties.







9 Cut black 2-pin coupling (7.2) from external microphone wiring harness (7.1).

10 Slide heat-shrinkable tube (4) over external microphone wiring harness (7.1).

11 Strip orange line (or) and black line (sw).

12 Attach contacts (2) to orange line (or) and black line (sw).

13 Remove insert (3.1) from black 10-pin socket housing (3).

14 Guide orange line (or) and black line (sw) through respective opening of insert (3.1) and insert in black 10-pin socket housing (3).

Orange line (or) must be inserted into contact cavity "6" of black 10-pin socket housing (3). Black line (sw) must be inserted into contact cavity "7" of black 10-pin socket housing (3).

15 Clip insert (3.1) into black 10-pin socket housing (3).

16 Position heat-shrinkable tube (4) as close as possible behind black 10-pin socket housing (3) and shrink on.

Black 10-pin socket housing (3) with external microphone wiring harness (7.1) must be connected during installation of smart Premium radio (A2/4) as shown.
