AH54.10-P-0005-01SM Notes On Checking The Battery Condition
To function, the battery tester measuring instrument requires a minimum battery voltage of approx. 7 V. If there is no display on the measuring instrument, check that the battery is connected properly.
Example:
(explained on a 12 V 61 AH 540 A battery)
If the battery tester displays a current of 485 A and a voltage of 12.55 V, the battery should be recharged.
Replace
A charging test should be performed before replacing the battery. Important for this is observing the individual cells for acid condition and gassing. Should one or more cells gas above average, the battery should be replaced.
Should this not be the case and the acid level is correct (correct if necessary), the battery should be charged (duration and current, depending on the battery and its discharge condition).
Recharge
Recharge the battery.
Should one or more cells gas above average, the battery should be replaced.
Good
Recharging the battery is not required.
Charging current:
^ Battery, 12 V 42 AH 300 A = 4 to 5 A
^ Battery, 12 V 61 AH 540 A = 6 to 7 A
