Crankshaft Main Bearing: Specifications

Main Bearing Cap Bolts:

Step 1





Install and uniformly tighten the 10 main bearing cap bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

Torque 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf)

Step 2

Further tighten the bearing cap bolts by 90° in the numerical order shown in the previous illustration.

Crankshaft Circle Runout:
Maximum circle runout 0.03 mm (0.0012 in.)

Main Journal:
Standard diameter 47.988 to 48.000 mm (1.8893 to 1.8898 in.)
Maximum taper and distortion 0.004 mm (0.0002 in.)

Crankshaft Thrust Clearance:
Standard thrust clearance 0.04 to 0.14 mm (0.0016 to 0.0055 in.)
Maximum thrust clearance 0.18 mm (0.0070 in.)

Crankshaft Oil Clearance:
Standard oil clearance 0.016 to 0.039 mm (0.0006 to 0.0015 in.)
Maximum oil clearance 0.050 mm (0.0020 in.)

HINT
If replacing a bearing, select a new one with the same number. If the number of the bearing cannot be determined, calculate the correct bearing number by adding together the numbers imprinted on the cylinder block and crankshaft. Then select a new bearing with the calculated number according to the chart below. There are 4 sizes of standard bearings, marked "1", "2", "3" and "4".
EXAMPLE: Cylinder block "3" + Crankshaft "5" = Total number 8 (Use bearing "3")
