Transmission Control Systems: Service Precautions

K41B CVT: CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE SYSTEM: PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
* Performing reset memory will clear the learned values of both the yaw rate sensor (deceleration sensor 0 point calibration) and CVT oil pressure (CVT oil pressure calibration). Make sure to perform reset memory, yaw rate sensor 0 point calibration and CVT oil pressure calibration when replacing any of the parts shown in the following table Programming and Relearning.

* Perform the VIN registration when replacing the ECM Programming and Relearning.
* If the ECM is replaced, register the ECM communication ID for Immobiliser System Programming and Relearning.

CAUTION:
When using compressed air, always aim away from yourself to prevent CVT fluid or kerosene from spraying on your face.

NOTICE:
* Before removing components from the transaxle, clean off any sand, dirt or other foreign matter present on the exterior of the transaxle. Make sure that foreign matter does not contaminate the inside of the transaxle when parts are removed or installed, or during disassembly and reassembly of the transaxle.
* When disassembling light alloy parts such as the case, do not pry them with a screwdriver or similar tool. Instead, tap the parts with a plastic-faced hammer to separate them.
* Do not wear cloth gloves or use cloth to handle parts during removal, disassembly, reassembly, or installation of the transaxle or other components. Instead, work with bare hands or wear nonfibrous synthetic gloves to prevent cloth fibers from entering the transaxle.
* Disassembled parts should always be arranged in order and covered with a plastic sheet or other nonfibrous material to prevent dust contamination, etc
* Apply Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC to sliding surfaces and rotating parts.
* Before installing O-rings, coat them with Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC and be sure not to damage them.
* Be careful not to damage the mating surfaces of components because damage to these surfaces can cause oil leaks.
* Before applying sealant, remove all of the old sealant and thoroughly clean the surfaces with non-residue solvent.
* Use of Toyota Genuine CVT fluid TC is recommended.
* Do not subject parts such as sensors to any impacts. Replace parts with new ones if they are dropped or subjected to a severe blow.
