STEERING GEAR / LINKAGE: STEERING GEAR: DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Put matchmarks on the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and the tie rod sub-assembly LH.

(b) Loosen the lock nut, and remove the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and lock nut.

2. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

3. REMOVE TIE ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Put matchmarks on the tie rod sub-assembly LH and the steering rack end sub-assembly.

(b) Loosen the lock nut, and remove the tie rod sub-assembly LH and lock nut.

4. REMOVE TIE ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

5. REMOVE STEERING RACK END SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Secure the steering gear assembly in a vise as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Do not overtighten the vise.

(b) Using SST, remove the 2 steering rack end sub-assemblies.
