Reassembly

1NR-FE STARTING: STARTER (for Cold Area): REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Apply grease to the part of the pinion drive lever which is in contact with the starter pivot.

(b) Install the pinion drive lever to the starter clutch.

(c) Align the tab of the shock absorber with the cutout of the drive housing, and install the shock absorber.

2. INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the starter armature to the starter yoke.

3. INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a screwdriver, hold the brush springs back and install the 4 brushes into the starter brush holder.





(b) Install the starter brush holder to the starter armature.

(c) Insert the grommet between the plate (positive side) and ground plate (negative side).

NOTICE:
Make sure that the grommet is properly inserted into the starter yoke assembly.

4. INSTALL STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY

(a) Fit the clamp of the brush holder into the starter commutator end frame assembly.

(b) Install the starter commutator end frame with the 2 screws.





Torque : 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
To avoid interference between the brush holder and the dust starter protector, tilt the starter commutator end frame while installing it.

(c) Install the starter yoke assembly, starter with clutch armature assembly and starter commutator end frame with the starter drive housing assembly.

NOTICE:
Align the projection on the starter yoke assembly with the cutout on the starter drive housing assembly.

5. INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using "TORX" socket wrench T25, install the starter yoke assembly with the 2 through bolts.





Torque : 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf)

6. INSTALL MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the magnet starter switch by hanging the magnet starter switch plunger on the upper area of the pinion drive lever.

(b) Install the magnet starter switch with the 2 nuts.





Torque : 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf)

(c) Connect the lead wire to the terminal C with the nut.





Torque : 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)
