1NR-FE STARTING: STARTER (for Cold Area): DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from terminal C.





(b) Remove the 2 nuts that hold the magnet starter switch to the starter drive housing.





(c) Remove the plunger hook from the pinion drive lever while lifting the front of the magnet starter switch, and then remove the magnet starter switch.

2. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using "TORX" socket wrench T25, remove the 2 through bolts and pull out the starter yoke together with the starter armature.





3. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 screws and starter commutator end frame, and hold down the lead wire while releasing the starter commutator end frame.





NOTICE:
* To avoid interference between the starter brush holder and the starter dust protector, tilt the starter commutator end frame while removing it.
* Hold down the lead wire while removing the starter commutator end frame.

4. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a screwdriver, hold the spring back and disconnect the starter brush holder.





(b) Disconnect the 4 brushes and remove the starter brush holder.

5. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the starter armature from the starter yoke.

6. REMOVE STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the pinion drive lever and starter center bearing clutch with planet carrier shaft from the starter drive housing.
