DESCRIPTION

The occupant classification ECU detects the state of the front seat inner belt assembly RH and load sensor when the front passenger side seat is occupied with the ignition switch ON. If the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened, the front passenger side seat belt warning light on the telltale light assembly blinks. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light turns off.

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)

(a) Clear the DTC Diagnosis System.

(b) Recheck for DTCs.

2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM)

3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (AIRBAG SYSTEM)

(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.

(e) According to the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test.

OK:

The front passenger side seat belt warning light on the telltale light assembly operates normally.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY - BATTERY)

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY - BATTERY)

(a) Disconnect the D65 telltale light assembly connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the D2 combination meter assembly connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. REPLACE TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY

(a) Replace the telltale light assembly Removal.

8. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT

(a) Check the front passenger side seat belt warning light operation Component Tests and General Diagnostics.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- END (TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE)
