SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (for Rear): REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.
HINT
The procedure described below is for the RH side. Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides, unless otherwise specified.
1. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
3. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP
(a) Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip to the extent that the side No. 1 trim assembly RH can be removed.
6. REMOVE REAR DECK TRIM COVER Removal
7. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BELT HOLE COVER Removal
8. REMOVE SIDE NO. 1 TRIM ASSEMBLY RH Removal
9. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
(c) Disconnect the connector.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(1) Push and hold the white housing lock, and slide the yellow outer connector locking sleeve.

(2) Push and hold the white housing lock again, and slide the yellow outer connector locking sleeve to disconnect the connector.
(d) Remove the bolt and side airbag sensor.
NOTICE:
Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor because the side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
