SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SPIRAL CABLE: REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.
1. POSITION FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
2. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Service Precautions.
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
4. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN LOWER COVER Removal
7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN UPPER COVER Removal
8. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
CAUTION:
* Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
* Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
* Make sure the steering wheel is installed and centered before rotating the steering angle sensor when performing steering angle sensor operation inspections (inspecting for abnormal noise, diagnosis inspections, etc.).
* Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.
* If there is a malfunction in the steering angle sensor, replace the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.
(a) Disconnect the horn connector.

(b) Slide the slider and disconnect the airbag connector.
(c) Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
(d) Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.
